The light in the Cathedral was designed to illuminate the entire nave and make the mosaics shine. From the position of the windows, it is possible to see that a careful study was carried out at the beginning, as well as seeing harmonious relationships between the architectural part, the musical part and the entire lighting design. In fact, the light was not dazzling but it reached the golden tiles in a suffused and gradual way. The winter solstice, 21 December, marks the day when the light in the Cathedral is at its brightest, while during the summer solstice, 21 June, light is minimal.
