The Anti-Presbytery Floor is a longitudinal and narrow space located between the nave and the presbytery itself. This space, in front of the organ, separated the two parts: the visible part for the faithful and the hidden part for the clergy. For this reason, the iconostasis was located in the anti-chancel. The latter, characteristic of Greek churches, was a sort of dividing wall. The iconostasis was also present in the Monreale Cathedral until 1658.
