The Corinthian order is one of the three types of architectural orders. It is characterised by a high base and a very slender, fluted shaft.
The Corinthian capital placed at the top of the column is formed of an upside-down truncated cone, called the kalathos, on which there are two overlapping rows of eight acanthus leaves.
