The church of San Giorgio dei Genovesi stands in the “Loggia” district, near the ancient port known as “la Cala”. Dating from the Renaissance period, it was designed by the Piedmontese architect Giorgio di Faccio. The slender façade reflects the Renaissance style: divided into two orders by a cornice and connected by volutes. The front has three entrances framed by pilasters. San Giorgio dei Genovesi has a Latin cross plan, divided into three naves with a transept surmounted by an octagonal dome. The tetrastyle type columns supporting the arches imitate the system used in Palermo Cathedral. Inside the church, in the right aisle, there is a tombstone on the floor dedicated to the painter Sofonisba Anguissola.
