The Cava di Ispica (Ispica Canyon) is a valley that extends between Modica and Ispica. It preserves and houses incredible treasures: prehistoric necropolises, Christian catacombs, places of worship, ancient monastic buildings and residential centres dating from prehistoric times until the earthquake of 1693.
Thanks to small streams, a green luxuriant vegetation typical of the Maquis shrubland grows among the ruins.
Among the flora that inhabits the canyon you can spot holly oaks, dwarf palm, wild olive, ivy, sage and many other plants.
